Professional Experience

Doug started in the trades as a teenager working in the mission field. After coming back stateside, he paid his way through college by working an apprenticeship under a local Carpenter. After graduating with a degree in Theater, Doug began taking on work both as an actor and as a scenic designer & carpenter for both theater and dance companies. During the last six years, Doug has worked in the residential sector as a custom carpenter in Texas , North Carolina and Colorado. He spent a year in Northern New Mexico working in off – grid housing, specifically with a type of sustainable housing called “Earth Ships”. He moved to Denver in July, 2019 to work with D Enterprise as a field craftsman and e ventually moved into the role of Site Superintendent. Doug is currently working for himself running residential remodel projects and building really cool stuff!!

Personal

Born and raised in East Texas, the youngest of seven, Doug grew up on 11 acres in t he piney woods two hours east of Dallas. Doug spent his teenage years split between competitive skateboarding, running track, playing in the marching band and performing in the theater. Serving others has always been close to Doug’s heart. A year after hi s first international experience serving in Mexico, Doug moved to Scotland at age 16 to serve in mission outreach using his skateboard skills as a platform for building relationships. Upon returning to Texas, and over the next 10 years, if he wasn’t onsta ge or backstage, he spent his time running, climbing, cycling or working on engines . Now, his free time is dedicated to his wife, Kathryn Brook , and his dog and constant companion, Finn.

1. What is something no one would believe is true about you? I enjoy sensory deprivation! In our fast paced and over stimulating world; It’s a great way to unplug

2. What organization or company Inspires you? Habitat for Humanity

3. What are you a raving fan of? I’m a huge fan of Patrick Stewart… does this require explanation?

4. What are you doing when you feel most like you? When I’m engaged in designing and creating something custom or original, whether a woodworking project or s omething mechanical like a motorcycle!

5. In an alternate life, what would you want to give a try? I’ve always thought that living in the American West during westward expansion would be fascinating.

6. What are you passionate about related to the work you do and serving others? Playing a hands – on role in seeing and facilitating the bringing of another’s vision to life has always been a driving force in my personal life.

7. What is the best part of your story so far? Meeting Kate and deciding to move to Denver!
