Estancia Natura: Building Dreams, Chopping Wood, and Herding Cats (aka Building a Legacy of Community, Sustainability, and Adventure)

Breaking Ground: From Crazy Idea to Actual Dirt Moving

Well friends — after years of drawings, dreaming, and no small amount of caffeine-fueled debate, construction is officially underway on the first cluster of A-Frames at Estancia Natura. It’s actually happening. What was once just a bold idea sketched on a napkin over a cup of SM coffee has finally turned into survey stakes in the ground. And while we’re technically “building houses,” anyone who’s been here knows this is about a whole lot more: community, stewardship, and trying not to break too many shovels.

The A-Frame Club: Where Minimalism Meets Adventure (and Solar Panels)

We’ve launched two A-Frame models designed for folks who want to live a little lighter, but still appreciate a great view with their morning coffee:

  • Model A: 73m² (784 sq ft) – the perfect fit for singles, couples, or folks who just want less to clean. 1.5 bedrooms (because who really needs a whole second bedroom to store their bikes?).
  • Model B: 134m² (1,372 sq ft) – perfect for families, or people who collect friends, hobbies, or grandchildren. 2.5 bedrooms and plenty of room to breathe.

Each A-Frame is crafted utilizing our very own sustainably harvested timber (yes, that tree over there might be your future porch swing, or dining room table), sits on its own ¼-acre slice of paradise, and comes fully equipped with solar power, because the sun doesn’t send utility bills. Out your front door: 20+ kilometers of hiking and biking trails — or as we like to call it, “our gym memberships.”

Estate Lots: For Those Who Like a Bit More Elbow Room (and Altitude)

Prefer a little more solitude with your sunsets? We’ve also carved out 25 estate lots ranging from ¾ to 2 acres, nestled into the farm’s upper ridge at elevations up to 5,000 feet. Translation: your views of the Caribbean’s highest peaks may require a double espresso to fully appreciate. Each lot comes ready with water, access to the entire trail system, and plenty of space for your custom mountain retreat.

Educational Initiatives: Because We’re Growing People, Too

Education has always been at the core of every adventure we’ve ever embarked on — after all, this entire farm started as a crazy idea to raise funds to help students attend the Doulos Discovery School in Jarabacoa…in addition to stewardship and restoration. Through partnerships with the Doulos Discovery School and other organizations, we’re hosting programs that teach environmental responsibility, sustainable agriculture, and how not to fall off a mountain bike while doing fieldwork.

Our Camp Spirit Discovery serves as a hands-on classroom where kids (and big kids) get their hands dirty, learn how ecosystems work, and maybe even figure out how to fix a flat tire. It’s all part of our mission to raise up the next generation of stewards, innovators, and adventurers.

Hospitality and Community: Where “Mi Casa es Su Casa” Isn’t Just a Phrase

If you’ve ever spent time in the Dominican Republic, you know hospitality isn’t optional — it’s a way of life. At Spirit Mountain, we’ve embraced this core value of unreasonable generosity. Whether it’s morning coffee with neighbors, or big community events under the stars, we’re building a culture where everyone feels like family (the good kind — not the awkward holiday kind).

Upcoming Projects: Because We Just Can’t Sit Still

  • Coffee Shop: Coming soon — a farm-to-cup café where you can sip the best coffee you’ve ever had, while arguing whether it’s too early for more coffee.
  • Boutique Hotel: For friends, family, and curious travelers who want to experience Estancia Natura without having to build a house first.
  • Chapel: A quiet place for reflection, simple gatherings, and watching the occasional wedding or sunrise service. Designed, of course, to blend with the natural beauty we’re blessed to steward.

Join Us: Before All the Lots Are Gone

Estancia Natura isn’t just a place — it’s a movement. We’re building something rare: a community that honors creation, values simplicity, and still believes you can live life with purpose, adventure, and excellent coffee.

We’re currently offering a limited number of A-Frame units and estate lots. If you feel that tiny voice inside saying: “This is what I’ve been looking for…” — give me a call.
